Price

Xbox LIVE Indie Games (XBLIG) games can be one of three prices:

  • 80 points (about $1 USD) - must be 50MB or less
  • 240 points (about $3 USD)
  • 400 points (about $5 USD)

Previously, when the service was Xbox LIVE Community Games, there were also 200 (about $2.50 USD) and 800 (about $10 USD) point levels, but those have since been removed. Games that are currently at 200 points will automatically be moved to 80 points later in the year. Games at 800 points will remain at that price until the developer updates the game in any way, at which point they will have to update their price to fit into the new pricing model.

Content Ratings

XBLCG games are not rated by the ESRB. The developer assigns values between 0 and 3 to several categories of ratings and these values are verified as accurate by other developers during the peer review process. These ratings are displayed in the game description when a player views the game in the game catalog. The categories are as follows:

Violence

  • Blood
  • Cruelty
  • Injuries

Sex

  • Partial Nudity
  • Sexual Overtones

Mature Content

  • Crime
  • Fear/Horror
  • Gambling
  • Offensive Language
  • Substance Use
